World Book Day

For World Book Day its fitting that ‪#‎Derbyshire‬ and the ‪#‎Peak‬ District should be celebrated. Jane Austen refers to there being “no finer county in England than Derbyshire”, and features “all the celebrated beauties of ‪#‎Chatsworth‬‪#‎Dovedale‬ and the ‪#‎Peaks‬” in her novel Pride and Prejudice. It is largely considered that Mr Darcy’s estate, the stunning Pemberley, is based on Chatsworth House. The House, home to the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, is famous for its grandeur and beauty, surrounded by acres of land in the Derbyshire countryside. The House has also been used for several period films including The DuchessThe Wolfman and, the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice.

springbrocante

We are pleased to announce the Spring Event at Cavendish Hall on the Chatsworth Estate will take place on Sunday 5 April, Easter Sunday. Featuring some fabulous hand picked local traders, offering hand made, brocante, vintage and artisan products as well as a lovely tea room serving hand baked goods including cakes and pastries. Entry is £1 and free for children, we look forward to seeing you to celebrate spring time with us

Event Cancelled Due to Weather Concerns

It is with regret that the Posh Jumble Sale at Baslow Village Hall in the Peak District on the 31 January is postponed as a result of unpredictable weather and a concern that people may not be able to get to the event because of snow and ice. Hope everyone is not too disappointed and understand what a difficult decision we have had to take. We have had snow and freezing ice over the last couple of weeks in the Peak District and thought that it best to postpone the event now rather than at the very last minute.

A date for your diary

If you’re in the Peak District on the weekend of 31st January, we would love to see you at our Posh Jumble Sale at Baslow Village Hall from 11am to 2pm.

There will be a selection of fabulous vintage, bric a brac, handmade goods, fabric and clothes, all priced £1, £3 or £5.  We’ll also be offering a delicious selection of homemade cakes to eat in or takeaway.

With admission only 50p for adults and free for children, come along and grab a bargain and enjoy tea and cakes in the lovely village of Baslow, near Chatsworth!
